Our most loved treehouses, as told by our guests

Set deep in a beautiful forest, with a hot tub and outdoor cinema, nature flows in from outside through the huge windows of this Herefordshire treehouse. It’s a tranquil retreat where you can pause, switch off and reconnect. Guest Rachel says ‘we spent our last evening toasting marshmallows on the bespoke fire pit… listening to the wildlife and watching the bats fly around at dusk’. Ben describes The Rook’s Tower as ‘simply idyllic’ with a ‘super comfortable bed and an ideal base for walks across the downs’. The cabin comes with a digital guidebook with everything you need to know about the local area where there’s plenty to explore including The Rookery Woods, Bromyard Downs and the medieval towns of Hereford and Worcester. Many guests praise the ‘generosity and kindness’ of hosts Dale and Heather. Guest Wiktoria was impressed that ‘Dale helped take our stuff up in a wheelbarrow’!

As guest Bel says, Hideout Treehouse, set in a wildflower meadow in Devon, has the ‘WOW, WOW, WOW’ factor. Her reaction might have something to do with the fact that ‘when we first walked into the treehouse, there was quiet music playing, underfloor heating warm and cosy, a bottle of bubbly on ice, a birthday cake, and birthday banner for my husband’. Need we say more – the owners of this secluded boutique treehouse that sleeps four, have thought of everything. It even has a moving bathtub (roll it inside or out) and a mini drawbridge as well as a hot tub, pizza oven, outdoor stove and hammock. There are 20 acres of land to explore where you can wander along woodland walkways and dip your toes in the babbling stream. The last word goes to Alex who simply says; ‘it was sublime’.

This stunning, hand-crafted treehouse makes for an indulgent getaway, as it comes complete with a gold roll-top double bath in the bedroom, a hot tub in your own private courtyard and a cinema projector. The kids will love exploring the treehouse within a treehouse with bunk beds and colour changing light. Guest Natalie said that Nest Treehouse ‘almost gives you a warm hug when you step through the door, and you feel instantly relaxed.’ You’re just a short drive to incredible stretches of Devon and Cornwall coastline but there’s a high chance you won’t want to tear yourself away. It sounds like Lizzie didn’t as she described Nest as ‘immaculate, a real luxury stay with every feature you could ever wish for – we especially enjoyed movie nights via the amazing projector whilst snuggled in our four poster bed’.

Guest Alice describes this Norfolk treehouse as ‘a gem’ and we’re inclined to agree with her. It’s set in a natural paradise with a lovely story behind it. Owners Helen and Steve planted trees across four acres of land to mark the birth of their first child, and these trees have grown into the beautiful private woodland where Pamford is set. Get ready to unwind in complete seclusion with only the sounds of birdsong for company. There are two balconies to choose from, a fire pit for outdoor cooking and a hammock strung up in the trees. Natalie says ‘This was the second time we’ve stayed at the Panford Beck Treehouse and it was just as idyllic as the first…the hot tub was the perfect way to wind down at the end of the day with a couple of glasses of champagne’. Just add stargazing for the perfect evening.

There aren’t many treehouses that sleep eight people (plus extra space for two more), but there aren’t many treehouses on the scale of Journeyman in Herefordshire. The owners aim to exceed expectations, so they’ll be delighted that guest Jess said it was ‘everything we hoped our stay to be and more’. Her reaction might have something to do with the grand open-plan living spaces, huge windows, high ceilings and spacious outdoor deck with views stretching out over Brook House Woods. Casie adds; ‘you can hear nothing but wildlife and the wind in the trees here. The children had the fanciest bath of their life and loved every minute of it! We ate dinner outside on the deck and chilled out, playing games of pool, in the evening.’ For a day out, areas of outstanding natural beauty abound locally, with the Wye Valley and Malvern Hills easily accessible for glorious country walks.

If you think you’ve lost someone during your stay at Silva, check at ground level, they’ve probably whizzed down the secret tunnel slide into the den below. This playful feature sums up a palatial Lakeland hideaway that guest Catherine described as ‘jaw dropping and magical’. Nestled in the wilderness among the trees, you’re in the perfect place to spot brown hares, roe deer and kestrels and hear owls hunting at dusk. After a couple of nights sitting round the firepit and staring up at immaculate starlit skies, most of our guests report that they never want to leave. Sally says ‘the views are sensational and we could have just sat there staring at the sights all day, however with the hot tub, games area and bar there was just so much to enjoy’.

A magical Somerset fairyland, Pomeroy Treehouse offers up fresh hidden delights at every turn, especially if you follow the winding spiral staircase up to the roof terrace draped in tumbling willow leaves. We agree with guest Emma that it’s ‘just incredible in every way!’. With sweeping views over unspoilt fields, you’ll feel like you're miles away from anywhere even though Cheddar, Glastonbury and Wells are close by. Emma added that they ‘particularly enjoyed a relaxing evening and morning bath overlooking the countryside and neighbouring cows’. With luxurious touches and so many different cosy spots in which to relax, Pomeroy is designed for blissful tranquillity. Katy said ‘everything was perfect from bathing under the stars, to cooking our own pizzas and spending mornings in the sauna’.
