Unusual places to stay

Unusual places to stay are all we think about, all day. We roam the country, personally inspecting treehouses, cabins, barns, buses and some stuff we can’t even categorise, then picking the ones we think will really blow you away for our collection of great glamping spots. You’ll find balcony hot tubs, spherical bed pods, stargazing platforms and more, all across the UK and Europe. Each one has been carefully chosen because it breaks the mould and offers you something different - not just an unusual place to stay, but a greener way to travel in every sense.

Why book unusual places to stay with C&S

The short version is this: our places are great and we’re lovely. To give you a bit more detail, we only pick the most unusual places to stay for our collection and we go there in person to make sure they’re unusual in a good way, with cool features, comfort and a connection to nature that will make you feel amazing. On the loveliness side, we’re an independent travel company with purpose. We’re part-owned by a charitable trust we established to support environmental causes, B Corp certified and employee-owned. Anyone you speak to on the phone is a part-owner, meaning they care that little bit more about helping you find an unusual place to stay that will give you unusually good holiday memories.

About our unusual places to stay glamping holidays

What makes somewhere an unusual place to stay? When we talk about somewhere being an unusual place to stay, you have to bear in mind that “normal” for us is a shepherds on a mountaintop. So when we say unusual, we really mean it. There’s a cabin that gets towed out onto a frozen lake by skidoo, a recreation iron-age roundhouse, an old firetruck, a bird’s nest and a beehive. For us, it’s the weirder the better.

What do I need to take to an unusual place to stay? Very little. While our glamping places can be unusual in their design, we still make sure the basics are taken care of. All our places are different, but we tell you honestly and openly what to expect, whether you’ll be washing under a bucket shower or lounging in a balcony jacuzzi. All you need is a change of clothes, and not even that if you’re really slumming it for the weekend.

What kinds of glamping places do you have? Treehouses, cabins, yurts, barns and buses all crop up in our collection of unusual places to stay. What we love most about them is that they’re all different. Check the details to see if a place is right for you and if you can’t decide, our Guest Experience Team, who have a ridiculously good customer satisfaction score, will guide you to the perfect one.

How do I know which place is right for me? Glamping holidays can be many different things. Maybe you want the slow life, chopping wood and boiling water over an open fire, or maybe you want the easy life, with everything at the touch of a button while you get your nature time. Have a good look at the photos and the stuff listed under “essentials” so you get a good feel for the place before you book.
